Leading up to my son's 7th birthday I knew it had to be a Mario theme. He plays by re-creating things he loves, and at the time it was all Mario all the time. When looking for the Mario stuffed animals, I was horrified by the prices and sheer limitation in what kinds of characters we could get. There was no other option - I had to learn how to crochet so I could make him Super Mario toys.
